The Last Few Days - in pictures

I have been leading trainings during the past 2 weeks on Backwards Design Process and Authentic Assessments.
I know, it sounds exciting, right? I mean, you kinda just want to fly to Thailand right now, don't you?

So I spent several days with Thai teachers writing outcomes using the national curriculum, and developing assessments that they could use in their own classrooms.
It's a lot of work, but it's that whole, "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat every day," thing. Basically, I like training teachers - it's an exponential way to make a difference.

Here are some pics...

Working with the 9th grade teachers:

Thai teachers unit planning:

Angie helps out the 1st grade teachers:

I've also been writing a grant with 2 of my co-teachers, Tanawat and Aranya, to try to get money to put on monthly workshops for teaching methods:

Me and 4 of my 7 co-teachers. Left to right: Tanawat, Somsri, Jongdee, and Aranya. I LOVE them!!!

Angela and I on Day 2 of the second training. She keeps me sane most of the time and is my best friend in the PC:

And then other super fun activities that happened this past week:

This is my English Club on Tuesday afternoons:

Their assignment was to write a conversation using the new words that they had just been taught. Here were the words (my written Thai is getting better):

And then a miracle happened in my town of Nakhon Si Thammarat... an English pub opened up. No English beer, but they do have things like fish-and-chips, and bangers-and-mash. They also have trivia night.
My team, Team Awesome, unfortunately didn't make it to the 2nd round, but we had the most fun.
Team Awesome= Kelly, Mac, Roni, Adrienne:

Vince is a former PC volunteer and still lives in Nakhon:

After the last day of our training, Angela and I decided to stay in town. It was a friend's (Oil) going away party. She moved to Bangkok.

Oil and Lara:

Kelly and Mac represent LA in Nakhon:

Adrienne dances with Jasmine:

Brent gives Vince a surprise hug:

Out dancing after the good-bye dinner:

Mac was going crazy, but as you can see, the Thai guys approve of his style:
