I can't remember anything that happened in August, other than I got some money from a grant to start monthly teacher trainings in my town.
That was a nice little victory since the teachers here have been wanting it for awhile.
Hollie came from America and brought magazines, tortillas, and baby ruths. The magazines have been read, the tortillas were gone within a week (we had a Mexican night here), and I'm rationing the baby ruths.
And then I'm clumsy. I'm not talking ordinary clumsy like when someone trips every now and then. I take clumsy to an extreme. I'm like a magnet to slippery floors, low overhangs, hot stoves, anything that I could get hurt on.
But, you see, Nakhon Si Thammarat has these beautiful waterfalls, and I had some friends here who have never seen them, so...you know...even though I can't swim I thought it would be a good idea.
Every time I have visited the waterfalls I have been with my friend Brent. Brent is an excellent person to visit waterfalls with because he knows how to save people. I should know, he's saved me about 4 times now.
So we were there, it started to rain, I slipped while climbing up a rock, fell off the rock onto another rock, bounced off that one and into the water.
Went to the hospital but nothing was broken. Actually it was pretty unbelievable that I didn't hit my head or cut anything.
The doctor (whose English was really good) gave me 5 different kinds of muscle relaxers and I spent the week being lazy.
Thai teachers won't let you teach if your sick/sore/tired/just not feeling it, so I stayed home most of the time.
Just started riding the bike again yesterday.
If only Alec had been here we could've done something like go away to an island to relax where I would have sang at least 10 songs in a row at a bar run by a Turkish man. We could have gotten massages and eaten Mexican food. We probably would've smoked a lot of mint shisha. Probably. Hmmm....
Other things:
-The director for PC Thailand visits my house today. I cleaned it this morning while wearing a back brace.
-School got canceled for the next 5 days for academic competitions in the area.
-My trivia team came in 2nd place.
-I lead a training next week called "Songs and Games".
-There are 2 new puppies in the village.
-I learned how to make potato salad.
-I taught my kids "Hello, Goodbye" and "Yellow Submarine".

Oh my god, Kelly. I'm glad you're alright. I'm imagining a sort of cartoon bounce in my head, with little sproing-y noises each time you ricochet off another rock. Eek.
How'd the visit with Dr. John go? Did you let him use your customized sink?:)
